Rain

Rain ……
Sometimes dark and heavy,
Sometimes light and lively,
Lashing downpours and violent streaks of light,
Pearls on the foliage and the sweet smell of wet earth,
Ambrosia for a parched land,
Opiate for the lonely soul,
Rain …….Oh, how it always reminds me of you!

I love watching the rain!
On winter mornings -
- A honeymoon in the hills,
From the warm comfort of our bed,
Watching the gentle drizzle,
Thru’ large French windows,
Lush green vistas in the distance,
The feel of her soft skin on mine,
The sweet caress of her lips,
Whisperings of sweet nothings…..

I love it after the rains!
Clear skies and the kiss of a lazy wind
The air cleansed and pure
The trees and the grass, laden with moisture,
The houses, the roads and the verdure
Everything around, washed and resplendent
Their colours richer, a shade brighter than before.
Birds sit in pairs
Chirping and preening each other
Like happy, indulgent couples
Blissfully soaking in the freshness around

Times when I wish we were together……

Oh, how I love to be out after the rains!
To walk around or maybe bike the town,
Down delightfully cold and wind-swept roads,
Ice cream and spice and bright city lights,
Campfires and late-night rides,
Happy couples romancing in the twilight,
And maybe a cosy corner, with the moon full and high,
Just the two of us and no one else in sight!
