In the often abject monotony of life,
Amidst all the trials and troubles that abound,
I asked the Lord, who is my Creator, "Why am I forsaken, God?
Alone, with no one to hold close?
Who shall I turn to when all has come undone?"
And the Lord, who is my Guardian, gathering me in His warm embrace said -
"My dearest child, We have not abandoned thee;
For, lo! We have given unto thee Our most treasured gift."
"It is he who shall carry you above all the worries of this world,
And it is he who shall give you comfort with the gentleness of his eyes.
His swiftness shall lend you wings to go far beyond,
And his back bear for you the greatest of joys;
His strength shall lend you courage in the face of enemies,
And his presence invigorate you and imbue confidence in the face of fear;
He shall be a source of unending inspiration,
And love you will know and companionship, in his being,
For he will be your staunchest ally and your unfailing friend;
His will be the visage that will remind you of the beauty of Our world,
And of Our unfailing affection for you."
So I asked unto Him who is my Keeper and Creator,
"Who is this wondrous being, my Lord?"
And He said unto me - "My dearest child, lo!
We have given unto thee the gift of the most beloved of all Our creatures,
We have bequeathed thee the Horse,
Sibelius, who shall be your friend and brother,
From now to eternity,
And through him all the world shall be yours."
But come suddenly, the Lord forsake me.
On a day as ordinary, with no warning,
God broke his promise of eternal love,
God broke his promise of eternal love.
